Easy WP SEO vs ClickBump SEO!

August 18, 2011 · 1 comment

ClickBump SEO! is another on-page SEO plugin that performs functions similar to Easy WP SEO. It does have a couple nice features that Easy WP SEO does not have (yet); LSI keyword highlighting and automatically making cloaked links “nofollow.” It also allows you to specify your own minimum and maximum keyword density values, which I view as a plus.

But, it doesn’t offer nearly as many features as Easy WP SEO. And like SEOPressor and SEO Beast, it suffers from two major flaws - it can’t analyze the whole HTML document, and it doesn’t factor in the word length of keyword phrases in its keyword density calculation.

The table below shows a side-by-side features comparison of the two plugins.

What ClickBump SEO! Has That Easy WP SEO Doesn’t

LSI Keyword Highlighting

ClickBump SEO - LSI HighlightingClickBump SEO! highlights LSI keywords that already exist in your content after it fetches the list of LSI terms related to your keyword. I like this feature a lot. It’s a very convenient visual indication of how well your content is themed around your primary keyword.

This feature presently doesn’t exist in Easy WP SEO. But it has been requested on the Warrior Forum and by people emailing me. Chris is aware of users’ desire for LSI highlighting, and given his past responsiveness to feature requests, I expect to see it added to a release in the near future. In fact I’d be surprised if it’s not included in the next release.

Automatic “Nofollow” of Cloaked  Links

Many online marketers use cloaking to replace nasty-looking affiliate links with prettier links on their own domains. There are a number of plugins that do this, creating links with /recommends/, /go/, /jump/ and similar in the URLs. ClickBump SEO! gives you the option to automatically “nofollow” these kinds of links.

Easy WP SEO doesn’t have this feature yet. But I personally requested it from Chris, and I’m positive it will be included soon. :-)

Category URL Cleanup

ClickBump SEO! gives you the option of stripping the category base name (usually /category/) from category page URLs. It has some SEO benefit if you’re trying to rank category pages for specific keywords, as it increases the keyword density of the URLs and moves your desired keyword (assuming it’s included in the category name) closer to the beginning of the URL.

Easy WP SEO doesn’t do this. But, it can analyze and help you optimize category and other archive pages just like regular WordPress posts and pages. No other WordPress SEO plugin, including ClickBump SEO!, gives you that capability.

Easy WP SEO vs. ClickBump SEO!: Key Differences

Easy WP SEO Analyzes The Entire HTML Document

Like every other plugin on the market (besides Easy WP SEO), ClickBump SEO! can only “see” the content of your posts and pages. It’s not aware of whatever content you have in other areas of the Web page shown to visitors and the search engines. So if your keywords appear in your headers, footers or sidebars, those instances won’t be factored into keyword density calculations.

Easy WP SEO vs ClickBump SEO! – Page Analysis

ClickBump SEO! does give you the option to specify that your theme puts post and page titles in <H1> tags. That at least partially compensates for not being able to assess the whole document, as it won’t deduct from your overall SEO score because it thinks your keyword doesn’t appear in <H1> tags.

Key Phrase Length and Keyword Density

For the life of me, I just can’t figure out why the hell all other on-page SEO plugins ignore the number of words in key phrases when they calculate keyword density. You can read my reasoning as to why this is such a serious shortcoming on the Easy WP SEO plugin home page.

The upshot is that by assuming all keywords are just a single word, keyword density is underestimated when key phrases of multiple words are used. The more words in the phrase, the more inaccurate the density.

I don’t know about you, but if I’m using a key phrase of 3 words, I don’t want my SEO plugin telling me my keyword density is 3% when it’s actually 9%.

Besides, when’s the last time you tried to rank a post for a one-word keyword? Yeah, thought so. ;-)

Keyword Decoration

ClickBump SEO! doesn’t do automatic keyword decoration. The drawback to this is that if you have an established site, you can’t have keyword decoration applied to existing posts and pages. You’ll need to go in, manually add the decorations yourself, and update. If you have a big site with hundreds of posts, that’s going to be a real hassle.

Easy WP SEO does automatic decoration, and you can choose whether it’s performed client-side (dynamically) or admin-side, where the decorations are stored in the database. With the client-side method, ALL of your site’s pre-existing content will have keyword decoration applied instantly.

Also, ClickBump SEO! only looks for bold keywords when scoring your content. Italicized and underlined keywords are not factored into the SEO score as with all other on-page plugins.

ClickBump SEO! Updates are Limited

If you buy Easy WP SEO, you get free updates for life. I know there are a lot of new features and enhancements coming down the road. Anyone purchasing today can rest assured they will have access to all of them with no further charge. Ever.

With ClickBump SEO! on the other hand, free updates are limited to only 6 months.

That’s a major turn-off for me. I don’t want to buy any plugin and have to pay for it again when a cool new feature is added, only because I’ve owned it longer than 6 months. Do you?

Money-Back Guarantee

You get a full 60 days to try out Easy WP SEO. With ClickBump SEO! the money-back guarantee is 30 days.

Sure, it’s likely you’ll know within 30 days whether any plugin is going to work for you. But who wouldn’t want the additional time in case of “buyer’s remorse” or coming across a better product?

Easy WP SEO Is The Superior Choice

ClickBump SEO! is not a bad plugin, but it’s just not as good as Easy WP SEO.

Its SEO assessment is not as accurate because

  1. It can’t analyze the entire HTML document as seen by visitors and, notably, the search engines.
  2. It assumes keywords are always a single word, making its keyword density calculation inaccurate for long-tail phrases.
  3. It only analyzes 11 SEO factors when scoring content, compared to 23 for Easy WP SEO.

Add to that Easy WP SEO’s greater number of features, free updates for life and a 60-day money-back guarantee, and I think the choice is pretty clear.

Now Is The Time to Buy

While it’s still being sold as a WSO on the Warrior Forum for $37, now is definitely the time to buy Easy WP SEO.

Before long, the WSO will be closed and the plugin will be sold on Clickbank at a higher price. So don’t wait and end up paying more later. Buy Easy WP SEO today while it’s still at the lowest price it will ever be, and pick up my exclusive bonuses too!
